Chest Radiography cases for review imaging relevant to clinical rotations

Cases 1-3 are for pre-class review. Cases 4-10 will be reviewed in groups in class, with discussion of findings after groups have completed their review.


Learning Objectives:

After completion of the interactive workshop on Chest Radiography, Doctoring2 students will be able to:


1. Describe a checklist approach for use in review of frontal chest radiographs.


2. List at least two descriptive adjectives appropriate for findings of airspace disease vs interstitial disease on chest imaging.


3. Recognize the lobe involved on chest radiography of pneumonia, and the location of pleural fluid when present.


4. Explain the significance of changes in mediastinal position and list at least three processes that may result in shift.


5. Describe how to assess lung expansion and cardiac size on frontal chest radiography including the potential effects of portable technique on this assessment.


6. Recognize problems with positioning of support lines, and at least three locations of abnormal air on chest radiography, and explain the significance of each.
